Swarm Leadership and the Collective Mind - Using Collaborative Innovation Networks to Build a Better Business (Hardcover):... Swarm Leadership and the Collective Mind - Using Collaborative Innovation Networks to Build a Better Business (Hardcover)
Peter A. Gloor
R1,397 Discovery Miles 13 970 Ships in 12 - 17 working days

This book helps you to become the leader of your own swarm by building its collective consciousness. A successful swarm business channels the competitive energies of all stakeholders towards collaboration. The journey from homo competitivus to homo collaborensis starts with recruiting and building an intrinsically motivated group of early enthusiasts, the Collaborative Innovation Network. These teams of homo collaborensis combine the four principles of social quantum physics to create collective consciousness: empathy that builds entanglement, and reflection that leads to personal reboot and refocus. Once the team is operational, its collaboration can be tracked and boosted using the "six honest signals of collaboration", patterns of collaboration, which will further increase the performance of the swarm. The six honest signals are central leadership, rotating leadership, balanced contribution, responsiveness, honest sentiment, and shared context. These concepts are illustrated with examples from leading organizations based on decades of research by the author at MIT, ranging from the creation of the Web, Uber and Airbnb to Fortune 500 high tech firms and healthcare organizations.

R1,314 Discovery Miles 13 140 Ships in 12 - 17 working days

Sociometrics and Human Relationships translates the latest academic research into practical business strategies and techniques as well as actionable insights, providing a wealth of examples for social network analysis and predicting trends. Gloor illustrates how to improve organizational performance by optimizing communication and collaboration through email. Based on Collaborative Innovation Networks courses which have been taught for over a decade to students forming virtual teams across a number of universities, Gloor shows readers how to leverage virtual collaborative creativity in the Internet age, and helps them understand and apply the dynamics of online communication via a variety of tools. Gloor has also created a tool that analyses all types of social media such as: Twitter, Wikipedia, online blogs and Facebook as well as email or Skype logs to predict election outcomes, perception and strength of brands, customer and employment satisfaction, or fraudulent behavior. Gloor explains how to use his tool, Condor, to visualize, monitor and manage brands, products and topics online, as well as analyzing organizations through their email networks.

The book also discusses how such networks can benefit startups, offering new self-organizing forms of leadership in which all stakeholders are encouraged to collaborate in the development of new products.

Hypertext und Hypermedia (German, Paperback): Peter A. Gloor, N.A Streitz Hypertext und Hypermedia (German, Paperback)
Peter A. Gloor, N.A Streitz
R1,953 Discovery Miles 19 530 Ships in 10 - 15 working days

Hypermedia-Anwendungsentwicklung - Eine Einfuhrung Mit Hypercard-Beispielen (German, Paperback, 1990 ed.): Peter A. Gloor Hypermedia-Anwendungsentwicklung - Eine Einfuhrung Mit Hypercard-Beispielen (German, Paperback, 1990 ed.)
Peter A. Gloor
R1,443 Discovery Miles 14 430 Ships in 10 - 15 working days

R1,916 Discovery Miles 19 160 Ships in 10 - 15 working days

This hypermedia CD-ROM provides an ideal format for the visual explanation of complex algorithms contained in the text "Introduction to Algorithms," by Thomas H. Cormen, Charles E. Leiserson, and Ronald L. Rivest. It contains three complementary components: a hypertext version of the book itself, interactive animations of the most important algorithms, and movies explaining the use of the hypertext interface and the animations. The hypertext, including the figures, is stored in HyperCard stacks. It contains tools for navigation, text annotation, tracking of preexisting links, full-text search, and the adding of links and paths through the document. This enables instructors and students to customize the hypertext easily for classroom and personal use. The animations that are implemented in HyperCard are linked with the hypertext and can be controlled interactively by the user. They also include extensive on-line help, making them self-contained. Some animations include scripting facilities allowing users to program animations of specific data structures. The movies ("talking heads" and demonstrations) provide a way to view noninteractive versions of the algorithm animations. These are stored on the CD in QuickTime format. Peter Gloor is Research Associate in the Laboratory for Computer Science, and Scott Dynes is a Ph.D candidate in the Eaton Peabody Laboratory, both at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. Irene Lee was formerly a graduate student at Harvard University. Animated algorithms: Asymptotic Notation. Recursion. Simple Data Structures. Sorting Algorithms and Analysis. Hashing. Binary Trees. Red-Black Trees. Minimum Spanning Trees. Single-Source Shortest Paths. FibonacciHeaps. Huffman Encoding. Dynamic Programming. Matrix Multiplication. Matrix Inverse. Convex Hull. Genetic Algorithms.
